India’s Shubhanshu Shukla and Axiom-4 Crew Begin Return Journey to Earth Aboard Dragon Spacecraft

India’s space ambitions have reached a new high as astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, part of the landmark Axiom-4 mission, has begun his return journey to Earth along with his fellow crew members. The team is currently aboard SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, which is expected to complete a nearly 22-hour descent back to Earth.

Launched under the banner of a private space mission led by Axiom Space, the mission underscores the growing synergy between national space programs and private enterprises. For India, Shukla’s role in this mission marks a significant step forward—strengthening the country’s presence in the global space community and igniting inspiration among aspiring scientists and space explorers back home.

The Dragon capsule safely undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) and is now making a carefully tracked descent. SpaceX recovery teams are already stationed at sea, ready to retrieve the capsule upon splashdown—bringing this historic mission to a safe and successful close.
